Onam Celebration 2026


Morning Star Higher Secondary School, Gudalur, celebrated Onam 2026 with great enthusiasm and festive spirit. The celebration featured a colourful procession, Onapattu, Thiruvathirakali, Onam dance, special messages and vibrant cultural performances.

Ms Aiswarya Kalyani, Playback Singer and Vocal Trainer, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Ms Anjali V M and Ms Diya I P, Classical Dancers, were the Guests of Honour.

The programme also included a house-wise Onam dance competition, Chenda Mela Fusion, prize distribution, food sharing and Tug of War. The celebration beautifully reflected the spirit of joy, unity, tradition and togetherness.

10 Crore Addiction-Free Pledge Mega Campaign


Morning Star Higher Secondary School participated in the 10 Crore Addiction-Free Pledge Mega Campaign, organised under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan and Mission SPANDAN, by the Brahma Kumaris on 20th August 2026. The students and staff of the school took the Addiction-Free Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to staying away from all forms of addiction.

The campaign aimed to create awareness about substance abuse and encourage students to adopt a positive, healthy and self-controlled lifestyle.Students were also encouraged to spread the message and inspire others to take the pledge, contributing towards the vision of an addiction-free India.

The initiative was conducted as a tribute to Dadi Prakashmani Ji and her dedicated service to society and nation building.

Tetanus Toxoid (TT) Vaccination Programme

Tetanus Toxoid (TT) Vaccination Programme


 A Tetanus Toxoid (TT) vaccination programme was held on Thursday, 20 August 2026 by the Government Health Department.
The vaccination was administered to students of Class V (10 years, born in 2016) and Class X (15 years, born in 2011) as part of the government’s student health and immunisation programme. The health department officials administered the vaccine to the eligible students following the required health procedures.
The programme helped promote awareness among students about the importance of timely vaccination and maintaining good health.

Independence day celebration 2026

Morning Star Higher Secondary School, Gudalur, celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day on 15 August 2026 with great patriotic spirit and enthusiasm. The celebration began with the flag hoisting, followed by inspiring patriotic songs and dances.


The highlight of the programme was the Housewise Ethnic Dance Competition, where students from different houses presented vibrant performances showcasing the rich cultural heritage and unity of India. The competition reflected creativity, teamwork and cultural pride. The programme concluded with the prize distribution, celebrating the achievements of the students and houses.

The presence of our Chief Guest, Subedar Jalan P. S., MRC, Indian Army, and Guest of Honour, Ms. Uma Bhattachiripad K, added great dignity and inspiration to the celebration.

Quiz Competition 2026


 Independence Day Quiz Competition

As part of the Independence Day celebrations, a quiz competition was conducted for the students. The competition aimed to enhance students’ knowledge of India’s history, freedom struggle, national leaders, culture, and achievements.

The quiz was conducted as a house-wise competition, with all four houses participating enthusiastically. 
Ms. Aleesha from Kozhikode served as the Quiz Master and conducted the rounds in an engaging and systematic manner.

The participants displayed good knowledge, confidence, teamwork, and a healthy spirit of competition. The event was informative and enjoyable, adding academic value to the Independence Day celebrations.

The competition concluded successfully with active participation from all four houses.

Debate Competition


A House-wise Debate Competition was conducted on 13th August 2026 as part of the school’s co-curricular activities. The event provided students with an excellent platform to express their views, develop critical thinking, and enhance their public speaking skills.

The programme was graced by Rev. Fr. Martin and Mrs. Shalini, former Principal of GTMO School, as the Chief Guests and judges. Their presence and valuable observations encouraged the participants to present their arguments with confidence and clarity.

Two teams competed in the debate, presenting their views on the thought-provoking topics “Is Democracy Under Threat?” and “Is Secularism Under Siege?” The participants presented well-structured arguments and counterarguments, demonstrating awareness of contemporary social and political issues.

The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation and healthy intellectual discussion. The judges appreciated the students for their confidence, reasoning ability, presentation skills, and respectful approach to differing viewpoints.

The event concluded on a positive note, leaving the students with valuable experience in debate, critical thinking, and effective communication.

Drug Free day

*Drug Awareness Day Observed with Solemn Resolve* 


Gudalur, 11 August 2026: In consonance with the directive issued by the Government of Tamil Nadu, Morning Star Hr.Sec.School Gudalur, observed *Drug Awareness Day on 11 August* with profound earnestness and unwavering commitment. The programme was organised to fortify students against the pernicious menace of substance abuse and to instil an enduring sense of responsibility towards a drug-free society.

 *“Addiction steals silently; awareness saves boldly.”* 

The observance commenced with a *solemn anti-drug pledge,* administered in the school assembly. Students stood in disciplined unison and reiterated the pledge with conviction, affirming their determination to abstain from narcotic substances and to become vigilant ambassadors of awareness within their families and communities. The atmosphere was imbued with sobriety and patriotic fervour as the collective oath echoed across the campus.

“ *The greatest wealth is health.”* 

The Principal addressed the gathering and underscored the devastating ramifications of drug addiction on individuals, families, and the nation at large. The speech exhorted students to cultivate resilience, moral rectitude, and informed decision-making in the face of detrimental influences.

The programme served as a resounding clarion call for collective action and social accountability. It transformed awareness into resolve and education into empowerment. The observance concluded with a renewed pledge to safeguard the sanctity of youth and to contribute steadfastly towards the vision of a drug-free Tamil Nadu and a healthier, more conscientious nation.

Parent Teacher Meeting Class IX to XII

Report on Parents-Teachers Meeting – Class IX

A Parents-Teachers Meeting for  Class es IX to XII was conducted from   6 August 2026 to 11 August 2026 .  
The Principal addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of academics, focused study, giving priority to education, and making proper use of the facilities provided by the school for students’ improvement.

The Vice-Principal explained the CBSE mark distribution and advised parents to give greater attention to their children’s studies. The Class Mentor briefed the parents about academic excellence, special classes, and remedial classes arranged by the school.

All the subject teachers introduced themselves and shared information about their subject schedules, academic requirements, and effective study methods.

Parents were also given an opportunity to meet the teachers personally along with their children to discuss individual academic progress and concerns. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment from parents and teachers to support the students in improving their academic performance.

Morning Star FIFA


A House-wise Football Competition was organised at school with the exciting theme of the FIFA World Cup. Four house teams participated with great enthusiasm, showcasing their skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Mr. Jose Sebastian from Calicut was the Chief Guest.

The competition created a lively and energetic atmosphere among the students. The winning team was awarded the Rolling Trophy, while prizes were presented to the winners in recognition of their excellent performance.

Yellow day Celebration



Yellow Colour Theme Day was celebrated at our school on 17th July 2026 with great zeal and enthusiasm.

The entire school campus was adorned with yellow-themed decorations, creating a vibrant and cheerful atmosphere. Students attended the school dressed in yellow attire and brought various yellow-coloured objects including toys, flowers, fruits, vegetables, food items, juice, bags, and stationery.

A Yellow Colour Exhibition was organized in the school park, showcasing the items brought by the students. As part of the programme, the children spoke a few sentences about the significance of the yellow colour and presented songs related to the theme.

The event was graced by our Rev. Fr. Principal, who inaugurated the exhibition. The celebrations concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony.

The Yellow Colour Theme Day proved to be both educational and enjoyable, helping students recognize the importance of the colour yellow while fostering creativity and unity among them.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY 2026

Morning Star Higher Secondary School, Gudalur witnessed a magnificent celebration of leadership, responsibility and youthful aspiration on 11 July, as the school hosted its much-awaited Investiture Ceremony. The occasion was not merely a ceremonial transfer of authority; it was a powerful affirmation of the values of service, discipline, integrity and commitment.

Singapen Police Team Visit

Singapen Police Team Visit

The Singapen Police Team visited our school on 25 June 2026. A short awareness meeting was arranged in the AV Lab for students from Classes IX to XII.
The police team introduced the Singapen Police Team and explained their role in supporting and safeguarding students. They encouraged students to approach them without hesitation whenever they face any personal, social, or safety-related issues.
The students were informed that they could contact the team directly for assistance and were provided with their toll-free helpline number. The session was informative and helped students become aware of the support available to them through the Singapen Police Team.

INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY

Our school celebrated International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm and spirit. 

PARENTAL GUIDING SESSION

On 20 th June 2026, Morning Star school auditorium transformed into a vibrant forum of insight and inspiration as a PARENTAL GUIDANCE SESSION was organized to strengthen the invaluable partnership between parents and educators in shaping young minds.

READING DAY

With the noble aim of fostering a culture of reading and nurturing young minds, Morning Star Hr. Sec. School celebrated Reading Day with great enthusiasm and literary fervor on 19 th June 2026.

Blue day Celebration

Blue Day was celebrated in our school with great zeal and enthusiasm. The objective of the celebration was to make children aware of the color blue and its significance.

The event commenced with a rally led by the Principal. All students came dressed in blue and brought blue-colored toys and blue lunch boxes.
The Principal, along with the teachers, cut a blue-themed cake. The classrooms and corridors were decorated by the teachers in accordance with the blue theme, creating a cheerful and vibrant atmosphere.
Teachers addressed the students and explained the importance of the color blue. Students actively participated by speaking a few sentences about the color blue. A group of children also presented songs related to the blue theme.
The celebration concluded with a photo session to capture the memorable moments of the day.
The Blue Day Celebration was both educational and enjoyable for the students.

PRINCIPAL'S DAY

The school campus resonated with jubilation and reverence as the institution commemorated Principal's Day, a splendid occasion dedicated to honoring the visionary stewardship and exemplary leadership of our esteemed Principal Rev. Fr. John Mannarathara CMI. The celebration unfolded with grandeur and heartfelt admiration, bringing together students, staff, dignitaries, and well-wishers in a memorable tribute.

Unit Test IX and X



Unit Test – I was conducted for Grades IX and X from 10th June 2026 as part of the continuous assessment process. The examination covered all subjects, with each subject carrying a maximum of 25 marks. The tests were conducted systematically to assess students’ learning progress and subject understanding.

ENVIRONMENTAL DAY

The observance of World Environment Day at Morning Star Higher Secondary School CBSE was marked with profound enthusiasm and ecological consciousness. The celebration commenced with the morning assembly, where students delivered an enlightening discourse on environmental stewardship, emphasizing the imperative of safeguarding our planet's fragile ecosystems.A notable highlight of the programme was the sapling plantation ceremony, ceremoniously undertaken by the Principal Rev Fr John Mannarathara CMI in collaboration with the members of the Eco Club. The verdant initiative symbolized the institution's unwavering commitment to ecological preservation and environmental rejuvenation

SCHOOL REOPEN

NCSC PROJECT

Students showcased their brilliance in the National Science curriculum project, excelling both at the zonal and state levels. Their outstanding pormance earned them well-deserved prizes at the zonal level and got selected for state level. The paricipants were Shameem and Faseen of Class XII under guidance of Mr.Kalaiselvan.

SOLASTA CHILDRENS FESTIVAL

Solasta, a vibrant children's fest witnessed enthusiastic participation from numerous students who showcased their talents in cultural, arts, and elocution competition. Fr.Emmanual Ponpara graced the occasion  as the chief guest.

Bharathiyar Games and Sports competition

Higher Secondary Students participated in the Bharathiyar Day Games and Sports conducted by the School Educational department Tamilnadu and won various prizes in zonal level.

Teacher's day

Teacher's day was celebrated on September 5th to mark the birth anniversary of Dr.Radhakrishnan, where the students greeted, thanked and appreciated the teachers for their dedication and hardwork with cultural programmes, games, refreshments and gifts,which was a memorable day for all the staff.

15th Silver Hills Trophy Basketball Tournment

15th Silver Hills trophy Basketball tournament was conducted at Silver Hills Public School on August 12th 2023 and it’s noteworthy to mention that our school won against Alappuzha Jyothi Nikethan School and Alan Antony won the Best player award.

Science Forum Quiz Competiton

Morning Star Hr Sec School participated in the Inter School Tamilnadu Science Forum Quiz competition, Nilgiris and the senior team won first prize in the zonal level and got selected to the District level competition. Super seniors won the Third prize in the zonal level.

Onam Celebrations

The Onam celebrations was a great event with various traditional activities and competitions like Onapattu, Thiruvathira and Pookalam competition.

The excitement soared with the Vadam velicompetition showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the festival. The staff was treated to a sumptuous onam lunch adding a sense of unity and festivity. The presence of Mahabali and Narikali added a touch of authenticity and tradition to the festival.

Independence Day & Art and Science Exhibition

The Independence day celebration and Art and Science exhibition was celebrated on August 15th which brought together a harmonious blend of patriotism, creativity and intellectual pursuit.

Drug Awareness Programme

A pledge was taken by the students on 11/08/2023 along with the Chief Minister of Tamilnadu Mr.M .K.Stalin (online) along with the Tamilnadu police authorities and the Principal of the School to bring an awareness among students regarding the ill-effects of drugs initiated by the Government of Tamilnadu.

"The birth anniversary of the former Chief Minister of Tamilnadu, Mr Kamaraj, was celebrated in Morning Star Higher Secondary School, in a great way to honour his contributions. Charity funds were raised for the students of the Government School, Gudalur, to encourage and support their education and well-being. With regard to Mr Kamaraj's birth anniversary, the students were given a platform to showcase their talents by conducting various competitions like quiz, drawing and elocution."

Rev.Fr.Dr.Biju John Vellakada’s first visit to Morning Star Hr Sec School, following his appointment as the Provincial of St.Thomas Province in Kozhikode was a momentous occasion.Principal Rev.Fr.Sanish Mathew and Manager Rev.Fr.George Ezahanikattu welcomed him and the entire school community.

Morning Star Higher Secondary School in Gudalur witnessed a grand Investiture ceremony. Mrs. Susheela, Sub Inspector of Police, Gudalur, graced the occasion as the esteemed chief guest.
